Harbor Beach is considered by many to be perhaps the most exclusive neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale. Geographically located at the Southeast tip of Fort Lauderdale, Harbor Beach is nestled between the Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway and just on the North Side of the Port Everglades inlet and the SE 17th Street Bridge. Harbor Beach is one of the three SE waterfront neighborhoods with Rio Vista and Las Olas being the others that offer boaters quick proximity to the Ocean. These three neighborhoods make up some of the highest real estate prices in town and the homes in Harbor often lead the pack.
Harbor Beach is divided in half by A1A with the east side (beachside) offering a mixture of non waterfront homes (drylots), fixed bridge waterfronts (10' mid-tide), a few high rise condos and co-ops, plus the private Lago Mar beach club and hotel. But when people think of Harbor Beach real estate, they are envisioning the small cluster of homes on the west side of A1A where the mansions and the large yachts reside. This section of Harbor Beach is exclusively single family, with all but a handful of homes being waterfronts. Preferred by many serious boaters, the canals of Harbor Beach are among the widest in town and are home to many of the larger yachts in Fort Lauderdale.
With a distinct "Old Fort Lauderdale" feel, Harbor Beach is home to many long time locals as well as new residents who appreciate living in an established, upscale community. Ideal for beach lovers, Harbor Beach is the only SE waterfront neighborhood on the "beachside" of the Intracoastal and even offers it's residents a private beach club. Many buyers will look interchangeably among Rio Vista, Las Olas, and Harbor Beach and will focus more on finding the right house with the right combination of waterfrontage, amenities, and price. But without a doubt there is alway the buyer who views living in Harbor Beach as the only choice.
