Coral Heights is a neighborhood within what is technically the city of Oakland Park. Many longtime residents are often confused by the boundaries of Oakland Park and I personally always think of Coral Heights as just another great east Fort Lauderdale neighborhood. Coral Heights is part of what I refer to as the " West of US 1 corridor" with Imperial Point, Coral Ridge Addition, and Coral Ridge Isles being the others. Geographically located a few blocks North of Oakland Park Boulevard and South of Commercial Boulevard and just on the West side of US1 to east of Dixie Highway.
Typical "as built" homes would be ranch style 2 or 3 bedrooms, 1300 to 2000 square feet, 1-2 car garage or carport, and pools common. Many homes have been added on to and completely remodeled and while others still reflect their "original glory". It is very common to drive through the neighborhood and see newer roofs and windows, fantastic landscaping, and an obvious sense of pride of ownership. Coral Heights also has two huge lakes that offer fantastic wide water vistas as well as a few other canals and waterways (which technically go out to the Ocean but must go under a few very low bridges).
Neighborhood demographics are typical of any east Fort Lauderdale neighborhood-young families, adult couples without children, singles and empty nester's plus some second homeowners. Coral Heights embodies everything great about Fort Lauderdale living-a suburban feel right in the middle of the city.
